From the desk of the Director of Education...

Dear Parents/Guardians:
The first reporting to parents on student achievement will occur within the next few weeks.  The school division is in the process of changing the approach to reporting to parents.  The implementation of a new report card will start at the grades 6-9 levels with the first reporting period in the fall of the 2012-2013 school year.  The new report card aims to communicate to parents and students the acquired competencies of their child in each subject area.

We have prepared some questions and answers to assist parents in preparing for the first reporting period.  The information package is available at all schools and on the school division website.  The student progress report can be viewed online.  The questions and answers, the student progress report, and the other information can all be accessed at www.pacsd6.sk.ca under the Students/Parents tab.

The new report card aims to communicate with a bar graph the elements of your child's growth as it pertains to being a competent learner in each subject area. The report card also reports an Achievement level as it relates to the curriculum outcomes.  The third area that is reported is the Factors Affecting Achievement.  We are confident that by giving this information, parents will have a better understanding of what their child knows and is able to do relative to the provincial curriculum.

We continue to be committed to providing the most promising educational experiences for all students entrusted in our care.  Our goal continues to prepare all students to be competent graduates with the necessary knowledge and skills to face their tomorrow with confidence.
