On April 3rd at 7:00 p.m. Rivier Academy will be hosting a basketball game between the Senior Rivier Basketball team and the Prince Albert Firefighters. When Sr. Mary informed the students of Rivier about an issue affecting one of our sister convents in the Philippines, we all wanted to help. After the earthquake in 2011 left disaster in the Philippines, many parents were unable to provide for the safety and proper care of their children and left them on the doorsteps of the convent. Before that date, the sisters had hoped to build an orphanage in the name of Mother Rivier and have now almost raised enough to put their plan into action.
In an effort to help them in any way possible, we have decided to charge admission to the basketball game and send all proceeds to the Filipino sisters. We have acquired volunteer refs and scorekeepers willing to help in our mission. If this mission lies close to your heart as well, you may contact the school for more information on how to make a donation if you desire. Every penny can help a child in need in the developing world!
